Iceland - sports

Most of the sports on Iceland are as extreme as the environment which hosts them; you can chose from kayaking, mountain biking and high speed jet boating. It is possible to rent all the equipment you need from many places throughout the island. There is also an annual midnight golf tournament, where the summer light allows people to tee of a midnight and play until the early hours of the morning. As less surreal and far more gruelling event is the Reykjavík Marathon which takes place every August. Possibly even more hard work is the traditional sport of Glíma, which is a form of wrestling that is believed to have been with Icelanders since Viking times. It is still play by many people in Iceland today.
