Iceland - culture

From when the Vikings first set foot on the island there has been an uninterrupted cultural heritage which still exists vividly throughout the country despite the daily realities of a globalised world. The music of Iceland, from the traditional Viking songs, to the Symphonic orchestra, to the modern classics by Björk, mum and Sigur Ros is something which has always been seen as something amazingly, especially when coming from such a small country. People have suggested that the landscape must inspire the amazing cultural outpourings of such artists, and there respect and international acclaim suggests that whatever the reason, they are some of the world’s finest musicians. Throughout the year there are a number of festivals in Iceland which blend the modern and ancient cultural traditions.
